This award is for residential conversion of a Victorian school building. Dating from the 1840s, this grade II listed building in the Maldon Conservation Area has recently been converted into eight houses. The judges admired the use of estate-style metal fencing to enclose discrete garden areas and the high quality of the paving and planting, which they agreed has markedly improved the setting of the building.
